Cautions when using the mosaic tool to edit an existing mosaic
- The APT Undo capability has not been implemented for mosaic buttons that
generate, synchronize, reset, and covert the mosaic. So at the current time the
Undo history will be cleared when using those buttons.
- If you change the number of rows and columns in a mosaic you must
regenerate the mosaic. All updates that you had made to the individual
tile visits will be lost (both content and position changes).
- If you move individual tile visits using Aladin and do not commit
those changes back to the proposal, those position changes will be
lost if you synchronize the contents of the tile visits with the
template visit.
- If you change the overlaps or shifts for the mosaic you will lose
position changes made to individual tile visits, even if you have
committed those changes back to the proposal.
We further recommend that you
- Do not modify the special requirement POS TARG on the exposures of
a Mosaic. If you need to specify small custom dithers on the exposures
(which you may normally do with the POS TARG requirement) please use
the special requirment DITHER POS TARG which only appears in the
exposures of a template visit.
- Do not delete the template tile. If you do need to get rid of the
first tile (which is the template) you can delete it and the second
tile will become the template for the mosaic, but you will need to
remove a broken SAME ORIENT link from the new template.
- Do not drag or cut/copy/paste visits in or out of mosaic containers
once you have generated a mosaic. You should be able to make the
modifications you need to the mosaic within the mosaic container.
