Address FAQ

Here are the answers to some of these common address question:

  1. How do I give STScI my new address information?
  2. What if I am not in the STScI database yet?
  3. Why do I get "Unable to contact STScI database"?
  4. How can I search again for the same name?
  5. How can I delete a Co-I entry that is not needed?

1) How do I give STScI my new address information?

You can make changes using the STScI address web page. Simply click on the "Update This Address" button in APT. Your requested changes will take affect immediately. The one exception is changes to e-mail addresses which are confirmed via e-mail as a security measure.

2) What if I am not in the STScI database yet?

Enter your first or last name and hit return. If you are not in the resulting list you can reach the STScI address web page with the "Add a New Investigator" button. After adding a new investigator to the STScI database please redo the lookup in APT.

3) Why do I get "Unable to contact STScI database"?

Depending on your institution's computer security measures (firewalls, blocked ports, etc.), you may initially have trouble retrieving investigator addresses from our database. Since it would be best to discover and fix any communication problems well before the Phase I deadline, please go to https://stsci.service-now.com/hst?id=kb_article&sys_id=37c34ad2db683f84fb50f9baae961992 for information on how to diagnose and fix the problem.

4) How can I search again for the same name?

If you searched for "smith" but then chose the wrong Smith, simply click on the lookup button next to the Name Search field.

5) How can I delete a Co-I entry that is not needed?

While the Co-I entry is selected, click on the Delete option in the Edit menu.
